I will be teaming up with Nick Howland and our focus is the reengage program and “the man class”.

what is the man class you say?

teaching//training//support//empowerment//mentoring//volunteerism//opportunity//success

the man class is an empowerment program that helps men become responsible for their lives and encourages betterment. “Our model is to walk alongside our men as they work towards self-sufficiency by providing problem solving techniques, improving decision making skills, and learning to overcome obstacles.”

this is a really inspired program that, unfortunately, does not have enough funding to continue.

possible directions: address awareness through print and web, encourage community involvement in life in a day photo activity and incorporate images in awareness design?, rebrand, fundraise, what it means to be a man.

audience: i think there are two major audiences to consider. those men who would benefit from the class (help) and those who could donate to the cause (reach). the needs of these two audiences are awareness of what it means to be a man and what they can do to strive towards that, whether it be participation in the program or donation/help.

stakeholders: people out there willing/able to fund and help this program get off the ground. it can’t get anything done without them.

positive/negative effects: i believe individuals able to gain help from the program, their communities/families/younger people looking for a role model would all be effected positively. organizations and/or companies that benefit from a down and out person might feel some negative effects.
